Kelli's Mardi Gras Birthday!

The eldest of the Mullin siblings turned another year older (actual age undisclosed). Since Kelli is in Provo, she had the special privilege of celebrating with everyone around these parts! It turned out to be quite the party, thanks to the Mommy Salami! Kelli got one of the funniest, most desired presents - cash! As Brooke would say, "Nothing says I love you like cash!"

Included in Kelli's heap of streamers, ribbon and cash, was Mardi Gras beads, masks and other decor! We sported it like true Mullins!

Spence was a little scared....

But eventually, everyone got into it! The boys were especially excited to wear the masks...

Aside from Tanner flashing everyone for beads (yikes!), it was a fun filled night! Of course we mixed some nurts in there, just to keep the tradition rolling! All and all... Mullin Siblings Birthday Dinner #2 of 2009... success!

Winter Semester

This semester of school has been my favorite by far! When I enrolled in my classes a few months ago, I was worried that I was doing the wrong thing because it just doesn't sound like Allie Mullin... Light Structural Systems, Finishing Methods and Concrete and Masonry!?! Not exactly what anyone (including myself) saw me doing. However, as soon as I got through my first few days of class, I felt so much better! I love my major and everything that has to do with it! The people and professors are great! Rather than having the same ole math or english or history classes where you read, hear the lecture, do a homework assignment, I'm actually doing projects, going to job sites and having hands-on experience with everything I learn in the lectures. For example; every week I have a Structural Systems lab where me and three other guys from my class are doing all the framing work on a to-scale model house. We write up estimates of the materials we'll need for the next day and submit it to the "lumber yard" (aka our TA's stockpile) and then start sawing and nailing everything into place to match the plans. Once a week, I also have a concrete lab where we mix and pour concrete slabs and learn the different techniques that go along with placing concrete. Side note: Concrete is more complicated than you could ever imagine! I've only been in class for a month and a half and could probably talk for hours about the different things that go into concrete and what you can do with it!

In a rap up... this semester has really helped me get excited about school. The only downside is that the snow keeps coming and going, meaning that I've only been able to ride my scoot scoot off and on. I can't wait for some warm weather where I don't have to wear a long sleeve shirt, a sweatshirt, a winter coat and gloves just to ride over to campus!
